What is my printer IP address?

A network printer has its own local IP address (e.g. 192.168.x.x). It is not the public IP above — here is how to find your printer's local IP to add or troubleshoot it.

Location is estimated from your IP address and may differ from your exact physical location.

Finding your printer's IP address

Your printer's local IP is what your computer uses to reach it. Here is how to find it several different ways.

Find it on the printer itself

Most network printers show their IP in the control panel: look under Settings → Network, Wireless, or Wi-Fi Status, or print a Network Configuration / Test page. The IP looks like 192.168.x.x. This is a local IP — the public IP shown above is a different, network-wide address.

Find it on Windows

Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → select your printer → Printer properties → Ports tab (the IP appears in the port name). Or run `ipconfig` won't show it — instead use Control Panel → Devices and Printers → right-click → Properties.

Find it on Mac

System Settings → Printers & Scanners → select your printer → Options & Supplies → the Location or general info shows the IP. Or open CUPS at http://localhost:631 → Printers to see the device URI including its IP.

Find it via your router

Log into your router admin page and open the list of connected devices (often labeled DHCP Clients or Attached Devices). Find your printer by name or manufacturer — its assigned local IP is listed there. Consider setting a DHCP reservation so it never changes.

Printer IP addresses and your network

Why the printer IP is local, and keeping it stable and secure.

Printer IPs are local only

Your printer's IP (192.168.x.x) works only inside your home or office network. It is not the public IP shown above and is not reachable from the internet — printing is a local-network activity.

We never log it

ipnow shows no ads and runs no trackers. We never store or log your IP address on our servers. Geolocation and ISP details are fetched from privacy-respecting third-party providers.

Keeping the printer IP stable

Printers often go "offline" when their local IP changes via DHCP. Fix this by assigning a static IP on the printer or a DHCP reservation on your router, so your computer always finds it at the same address. Avoid exposing printers to the internet.

Frequently asked questions
