Location is estimated from your IP address and may differ from your exact physical location.

Understanding your iPad IP address

How IP addresses work on iPadOS, the difference between public and local addresses, and what changes between Wi-Fi and cellular.

Your iPad has two IP addresses

Your iPad has a public IP (shown above) shared by all devices on your Wi-Fi network, assigned by your ISP. It also has a local IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x) used only inside your home network. On cellular models, your carrier assigns a separate public IP for mobile data.

How to find your IP on iPad

Open ipnow.dev in Safari for your public IP — it appears instantly. For your local Wi-Fi IP: go to Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the (ⓘ) icon next to your connected network. The IP Address field shows your private local IP on that network.

Wi-Fi vs cellular IP on iPad

If you have a cellular iPad, your public IP changes when you switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Wi-Fi IP comes from your router's ISP connection; cellular IP is assigned by your carrier. Wi-Fi-only iPads always show the same public IP from your router.

Privacy on iPad

Safari's Private Browsing mode does not change your IP address — it only prevents local history from being saved. To mask your IP, use a VPN app on iPadOS, or enable iCloud Private Relay (requires an iCloud+ subscription).

Is it safe to share your iPad's IP address?

Your public IP is visible to every website and service you connect to on your iPad. Here is what it reveals.

What your iPad IP reveals

Your public IP can expose your approximate city, region, and ISP — not your name or precise home address. On cellular, the IP is often shared via carrier-grade NAT across many users, making individual identification less straightforward.

We never log it

ipnow shows no ads and runs no trackers. We never store or log your IP address on our servers. Geolocation and ISP details are fetched from privacy-respecting third-party providers.

Protecting your iPad privacy

Use a reputable VPN app on iPadOS to mask your IP from websites. iCloud Private Relay (available with iCloud+) routes your Safari traffic through two relays so that neither Apple nor your ISP can see both who you are and what you're browsing.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about IP addresses and how ipnow works.

Your iPad's public IP is shown at the top of this page. On Wi-Fi it is your router's shared IP; on cellular (if supported) it is your carrier's IP. ipnow detects whichever is active automatically.
