Location is estimated from your IP address and may differ from your exact physical location.

Understanding your iPhone IP address

Everything about how IP addresses work on iOS, including the difference between public and local addresses and what changes between Wi-Fi and cellular.

Your iPhone has two IP addresses

Your iPhone has a public IP (shown above) shared by all devices on your Wi-Fi network, assigned by your ISP. It also has a local/private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x) visible only inside your home network. On cellular, your carrier assigns a separate public IP.

How to find your IP on iPhone

Open ipnow.dev in Safari for your public IP — it appears instantly. For your local Wi-Fi IP, go to Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the (ⓘ) next to your network name. The IP Address field shows your private address on that network.

Cellular vs Wi-Fi IP

Your public IP changes when you switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data because they are separate network connections. On cellular, your carrier assigns the IP; on Wi-Fi, it comes from your router's ISP connection. Reload ipnow.dev after switching to see the current IP.

Privacy on iPhone

Safari Private Browsing hides your history on-device but does not change your IP address — websites still see your public IP. To mask it, use a VPN app on iOS, or enable iCloud Private Relay if you have an Apple One or iCloud+ subscription.

Is it safe to share your iPhone's IP address?

Your public IP is visible to every website you visit. Here is what it reveals and how to protect yourself on iOS.

What your iPhone IP reveals

Your public IP can expose your approximate city, region, and ISP — not your name or home address. On cellular, the IP is often shared across many users on the same carrier network, making individual identification harder.

We never log it

ipnow shows no ads and runs no trackers. We never store or log your IP address on our servers. Geolocation and ISP details are fetched from privacy-respecting third-party providers.

Protecting your iOS privacy

Use a trusted VPN app to mask your IP from websites. Apple's iCloud Private Relay (included in iCloud+ plans) routes Safari traffic through two relays to hide your IP and browsing from both Apple and your ISP.

Frequently asked questions

Your iPhone's public IP is shown at the top of this page. On Wi-Fi it is your router's IP shared by all home devices; on cellular it is assigned by your mobile carrier. Both are detected automatically when you load ipnow.dev.
